Music Director, Richard Teaster, holds degrees from the University of North Carolina School of the Arts and Rice University's Shepherd School of Music. He completed further professional studies in voice and opera at the Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Richard TeasterMusic and the Pittsburgh Opera Center. As a singer, he has performed with such groups as the Cincinnati Opera, Aspen Opera Theater, Pittsburgh Opera, Opera Theater of Pittsburgh, Des Moines Metro Opera, Chatham Baroque, Pittsburgh Symphony, and the Detroit Oratorio Society.

As a conductor, Mr. Teaster has worked in both choral and instrumental genres, as well as in musical theatre venues. His local affiliations have included the Pittsburgh Playhouse of Point Park University, Pitt Repertory Theatre, and the Pittsburgh CLO Academy of Musical Theater/CLO Mini-Stars. Prior to coming to Pittsburgh, he served two seasons as the Assistant Conductor and Accompanist for the Cincinnati Men's Chorus.

In his ten years as Music Director of the Pitt Men's Glee Club, the group has seen an unprecedented Renaissance, in both membership and musical caliber, placing them among the top men's collegiate choral ensembles in the country.

In addition to conducting the Glee Club, Mr. Teaster teaches private voice lessons at the University of Pittsburgh, and teaches the popular Class Voice: Introduction to Singing course, as part of the basic musicianship curriculum of the music department. He also is on the faculty of the City Music Center of Duquesne University and Carnegie Mellon School of Drama's Musical Theater Program.
